Chichi has an ear to listen and pick up detail as she can listen without commenting. I found myself many a times answering my own questions as the silence would provoke me to ‘hear myself speak’. I started using this in my research and found the flow of my writing with ease. I never knew that coaching could also work for academic research. I always thought the research Supervisor as an academic would be telling me and not asking me to think through my own challenges. At first it was frustrating, however, I soon realized, it was empowering me to own my write up for the thesis.
I found myself calling my Coach to schedule sessions, not because I could not cope but because, the quality of thinking that came of the partnership with my Coach always made cruise through even the hardest of days. I learnt to reflect and think through what, so what and so what now?
Coaching is the second-best thing that has created a sense of accountability amongst our leaders and their teams. We are developing a team of internal Coaches to work with our middle managers and their teams too.
